Marketing with QR Codes

I recently did a post explaining QR codes. In this post, let’s look at specific examples of how we can use QR codes to promote our business.

Business Cards

To save space on your business card you can use a QR code that lists all your social media connections. When your QR code is scanned from your business card it leads potential clients to your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn pages, etc.

Labels

If you deliver a product with a label, add a QR code. The QR code can take clients to a site where you share a story about the product, or they learn more about your business, or they can order more products.

Contact Info

Create a QR code that can be quickly scanned, making it easy for potential clients to load your contact information to their cell phone.

Storefront Display

You’re not open 24/7 but your website is! Create a QR code that takes people right to your website. place this QR code in your storefront window. When you’re not there, they can still immediately visit your site and even contact you through your website.

Promotions, Discounts, Giveaways

Create discounts specific to QR codes. Place these codes in advertisements or even throughout your store. When the code is read, it leads clients to specific promotions or discounts.

Supplement your retail space

QR codes can provide a richer experience for in-store visitors. Placing a QR code next to pieces of art provides the visitor with more information about that piece. QR codes on a piece of furniture takes the visitor to a site that shows the different finishes or fabrics it comes in. QR codes at a hardware store links to how-to videos. QR codes at a grocery store explains where the product comes from. QR codes in a book store links to book reviews. The possibilities are endless.

Give directions, dates and times.

Planning a significant event? Create a QR code that gives attendees the specifics: directions, dates, times, venue.

BBB Business Review

Want your audience to read your outstanding BBB business review? Create a QR code that links them to your review.

That is just a sampling of what you can do with QR codes. Let your imagination go! What are some other ways you can use QR codes?

  1. This is a great list of ideas to get people started with QR codes. As consumers begin to use QR codes more and more frequently and the novelty begins to wear off, I think it’s going to become more and more important to use QR codes to connect smartphone users with something of value (as you mentioned in Promotions, Discounts, Giveaways) or something unique/unusual. It will be so interesting to see how people are using QR codes a few years from now!
